Description
Ginger Essential Oil (Zingiber officinale) distilled root oil
Our Ginger Essential oil is rich and warm with a deeply spicy aroma. It is steam distilled from the root or rhizome of the ginger plant, a perennial herb with think spreading tuberous roots. The pungent odour and flavour of this plant has long been used as a kitchen spice and cooking ingredient for both sweet and savoury foods.
Ginger has a pale yellow to amber colour and a slightly viscous consistency.
Ginger has a warm and soothing action. This makes it ideal to calm digestive conditions such as indigestion. Its warming properties are also useful in massage oils for muscular aches and pains or to use before or after exercise.
Ginger has a powerful scent. A drop or two of ginger will add an interesting tone to blends, especially those containing other spicy oils. Inhaling a few drops of ginger essential oil in hot water may help to ease coughing
Use in a diffuser to add an exotic warm atmosphere to your space. It combines well her with other essential oils such as lemon or lemongrass. Or add to your massage or body oil.
The ginger plant has been used in culinary for many years by the ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans.
