Peppermint Essential Oil (Mentha piperita) distilled leaf oil

Our Peppermint Essential Oil has a strong piercing aroma and a stimulating character. Steam distilled from a perennial herb. Widely used in food, drinks, medicines and personal care products for its fresh, bright and stimulating aroma and flavour.

Peppermint has a pale yellow to greenish colour and a thin consistency.

Peppermint has a strong piercing menthol aroma. It gives a feeling of clarity and coolness in the head and respiratory system, making it useful both for respiratory and mental issues. Use a little on a tissue and inhale for a stuffy nose, or for mental fatigue. It may also aid concentration and headaches.

Peppermint may also be soothing for digestive disorders. Many over the counter stomach medicines contain peppermint to both enhance the taste as well as their effectiveness.

Used as a remedy for indigestion since Ancient Egyptian times. In fact, dried peppermint leaves were found in Egyptian pyramids dating back to 1000 b.c.  The ancient Greeks and Romans also valued it as a stomach soother.

Although Peppermint is generally regarded as safe, it is recommended not to be used near the face of infants or children as this may cause breathing difficulties.
