Description
Clove Bud Essential Oil (Syzygium aromaticum) distilled oil
Our Clove Bud Essential Oil has a strong sweet and spicy aroma. Steam distilled from the dried flower buds of a slender evergreen tree which has bright green leaves.
Our Clove Bud is steam distilled from the flowering buds harvested from the clove tree or syzgium aromaticum. There are various types of clove essential oils, such as Clove Stem and Clove Leaf. In aromatherapy these oils are inferior, as the essential oil distilled from the buds has a better composition and aroma.
Clove has a colour ranging from clear to yellow-brown and has a slightly viscous consistency.
Clove has analgesic and antiseptic properties. Historically this has made it popular in dentistry including for conditions like toothache. Its spicy aroma is reminiscent of the aromas of the Christmas season and other celebrations.
The Chinese have used clove for more than 2,000 years as a fragrance, spice and medicine. Back then, people would hold cloves in their mouths to improve breath odor during audiences with their emperor.
Clove bud essential oil is perfect in the diffuser to create a warming atmosphere. A strong essential oil, if applied to the skin it should be in very low concentrations.
The clove tree is a member of the Myrtaceae family of plants, and therefore related to trees such as eucalyptus and tea tree, even though their aromas are very different.
Clove Bud is a distinctive oil popular in flavouring of food, drinks, cosmetics and perfumery. In addition to its aromatherapy uses.
