Clary Sage Essential Oil (Salvia sclarea) distilled flowering top oil

Our Clary Sage Essential Oil has a fresh sweet herbaceous scent with smoky tobacco-like notes.  Steam distilled from a short herb which has large hairy leaves and tall flower spikes with small purple flowers.

Related to the culinary sage. Clary Sage has a clear or pale yellow to pale olive green colour and a thin consistency.

Clary Sage is a relaxing and balancing aromatherapy oil, which is a refreshing and uplifting oil. Traditionally used to promote emotional balance.

In aromatherapy, Clary Sage helps in the treatment women during transitional periods such as puberty, labour and menopause due to its restorative and balancing effects. Clary Sage is preferred to Sage (Salvia officinalis), though Clary Sage shares many of the properties of Sage, the essential oil contains a far lower proportion of thujone.

It is helpful for treating all kinds of stress and tension and is a particulary powerful muscle relaxant that has a wonderfully nutty aroma.

As it is relaxing, warming and antispasmodic it is helpful in treating digestive problems, cramps, PMS, back pain or colicky pains. Either gentle massage over the stomach and abdomen, or hot compresses of Clary will be very comforting.

Used in a cream or lotion, Clary Sage oil can be beneficial for skin problems. It is particularly good for balancing the production of sebum of the skin and to clear greasy complexions.

This is an essential oil blends well with most other oils bringing with it a middle note aroma.

Clary sage is perfect for diffuser or in topical use in a suitable carrier oil.
