Citronella Essential Oil (Cymbopogon nardus) distilled leaf oil
Our Citronella Essential Oil has an intense lemony aroma. Steam distilled from a tropical grass from the same family as Lemongrass.
Citronella is a yellow to brown colour and thin consistency. With an aroma that is fresh, lemony and woody, this top note oil also boasts rejuvenating and holistic healing properties.
Citronella is uplifting, antiseptic, deodorant and cooling. Its most well-known use is as an insect repellent. However it has a history of use in many cultures for a wide range of conditions.
As well as its use as an insect repellent, it has traditionally been used for physical conditions including minor infections, excess perspiration and oily skin. In addition it has mood lifting properties as well as being useful for fatigue and headaches.
It is also able to counteract feelings of lethargy and indecision and can be a tonic for the nervous and digestive systems.
Citronella is ideal to use in a diffuser or topically on the skin. Although generally considered safe. Citronella may cause skin irritation in some people, so we recommend keeping concentrations low for topical use.
